How to Become an All Rounder in School?

A successful student needs to be good in everything, i.e., he/she has to be an all-rounder. First, let us understand who an all-rounder is. An all-rounder is a person who performs well in academics, takes part in sports, and participates in co-curricular activities. It is not difficult to become an app-rounder, but it requires a tremendous amount of effort.

Usually, students are either good in academics or are constantly engaged in sports or perform consistently well in drama and school cultural activities. Students devote their time to either of the 3 activities and this is a major obstacle in establishing themselves as an all-rounder. The characteristics of a well-rounded person include being knowledgeable and being versatile.

But, the question of how to become knowledgeable and how to become an all-rounded person is still unanswered.

In this article, we will outline the qualities of a well-rounded person and how you can become one.

6 Tips to become an All-Rounder

1. Work hard in academics
There are no shortcuts to get good grades. Only hard work and consistency will help you get through. Excelling in academics is the first step towards becoming an all-rounder. Scoring good grades will leave you with more time to engage in other activities. Excelling in academics requires you to be focused and study on time, meaning time management is crucial.

2. Be an effective time manager
Being an all-rounder means you need to create a balance between studies and co-curricular activities. For this, time management is essential. You cannot afford to devote an entire day to activities and the next day to academics. Both need to go hand-in-hand. Plan a schedule for your day and make sure you follow the schedule so you have time to study as well as take part in co-curricular activities.

3. Take up an interesting activity
Co-curricular activities include taking up a sport, doing yoga, joining school clubs, taking part in a drama, singing, and such cultural activities. Sign up for a couple of classes offered at your school and find out what gets you excited. Then, you can pursue that interest with full dedication. But do not take up many classes in one go as this will hamper your productivity. Sign up for a few and then you can take it further.

4. Join study groups
Studying in groups will help you get to know other people apart from your close friends’ circle. An all-rounder is a good net-worker and can easily strike up a conversation. Taking part in study groups will help you meet other people, voice out your opinion, and listen to others’ suggestions. All these are also favorable traits of an all-rounder.

5. Shape your personality
Becoming an all-rounder is not just about studies and games. It also involves building your character to excel in the world once you step out of school. Communication is key to becoming an all-rounder. You should be able to talk and listen well to what others have to say. So, take the opportunities in school to build values and develop new qualities. These traits of your personality will stay with you throughout your life and be useful later on.

6. Make your priorities
As a student, academics, co-curricular, and sports are a lot to handle. But do not get bogged down by it as with a little organization and thinking, your confusion can be sorted out. Sometimes, you will have to compromise on one activity because another requires your full time. For example, the day before an exam, you will not find time to go out and play or practice your instrument, which is completely fine. This is called deciding your priorities. It is essential that you know which activity is important when and accordingly plan your schedule.

To be an all-rounder, you need not be the jack of all trades, but you should be participative, be good at academics, and have a well-built personality. This will help you stand out amongst your peers and put you on the path of becoming an all-rounder.
