10 Things Students Should Never Do Before Any Exam

Examinations are a mandatory part of every student’s life. To complete their schooling and education, it is essential that students pass their examinations. Preparing for exams will be different for each person. Each student will have their own unique methodology to study. Some students prefer to study in a calm and quiet environment, whereas some prefer music in the background and some can study only by reading out loud. 

You all might have come across numerous blogs that outline tips to follow before an exam, how to be prepared for upcoming exams, and so on. But in this article, we will look at a few things that you as a student should never do before any exam.

  1. Do not use social media

Using your phone is an addiction that consumes most of your time. You would start with a simple greeting and that will end in a prolonged conversation. You may even check your social media accounts to see what your friend has posted and you would also feel like posting. This will lead to checking your phone multiple times and you may end up wasting a lot of time without even realizing it. This will lead to unnecessary distraction and will not allow you to concentrate on your studies. 

  1. Do not discuss with your friends

The most common mistake every student does is asking their friends how much they have finished studying. Why a student should not ask this question to their friend is because they may create some negative thoughts in their head. So it is important to not compare or discuss with your friends. 

  1. Do not try reading a new book before the exam

While talking to your friends, you may get to know which books they are referring to and if it’s different from what you have used, you tend to get tensed and will get the book which your friend used just before your exam. Stick with the book which you used to prepare for exams and learn thoroughly from it. Do not use new books right before exams because it may cause a lot of fear and tension in your head. 

  1. Do not procrastinate

Never procrastinate before exams. If there are 3 days for preparation, divide and study properly according to your comfort. If you keep postponing what you have to study, you may end up having a lot more to study and everything will pile up at the last minute and it may be difficult to cover all the portions at the last minute. This will lead to unnecessary tension and difficulties. 

  1. Stick to your method of learning 

It is very important to not get influenced by the method or strategy that your friend is using. The way you study, your method, your strategy, your timetable is different from your friend’s timetable, strategy. You should follow the way in which you’ve been studying and not get into new methods at the last minute as it may lead to last-minute difficulties. Just stick to the method that you’ve been following to excel in exams. 

  1. Do not change your timetable at the last minute

A very important thing to do is to not change your timetable at the very last minute before your exam. When you fix a goal, make sure you follow it because it is very important to go according to the timetable during the exam time. 

  1. Do not study last minute

Last-minute studies might or might not help. But it is very important to not take any risk before exams. Stick to what you’ve studied before and keep revising that. Taking up new topics or lessons might increase your tension and you may end up not revising what you studied earlier. 

  1. Do not deny yourself a good sleep

A lot of students think that studying at night might help them concentrate better. This method helps most of the students. But delaying your study time till few days and doing last-minute preparation on the night before the exam may cause a lot of trouble to your health as you might not get enough sleep. Your brain and body need rest to make sure that you write your exam well the next day. 

  1. Do not eat outside food

Students make the mistake of eating outside food before exams. Make sure you eat home-cooked meals before the exam so that you won’t get sick. Eating home-cooked food will make you digest easily but eating outside food might make you feel heavy and sleepy. It is important to eat vegetables and fruits to be healthy and active during exam time. 

  1.   Do not consider cheating

Cheating as a part of preparation is the least you can do to score marks. Try to not cheat and ask your teacher if there’s anything that confuses you. If you consider cheating, the time you’ve spent studying and revising will be of no use.
